General

Is this or will this be pay to play?

The game will stay free forever.

How do I get an account?

Click the sign up-link at the homepage. Remember that you'll need a working email address for activating the account.

I created an account but it says I have incorrect username or password

You'll need to activate your account using the link you received to your email-address when creating the account. That or you were too stupid and actually created a forum account instead of game account (known to happen quite often).

Will my account ever get removed?

We don't do account removals other than when a person breaks the game rules. So your account will remain in game.

Can you remove my account?

What on Earth could possibly make you feel so special that we'd actually want to waste even a minute of our time to do something like remove an account of some retard? No we won't do that.

Is this only for girls?

Not really. Most of our players are guys or at least pretending to be guys. You can always "change" your sex if you feel the game is not suitable for you...

This game sucks

Yes and so do you. Why would you waste any more seconds of your life to actually come telling us about how sucky the game was. Just go off somewhere and die already. Thank you!

Can I become an admin?

You must be kidding. Go take a look in the mirror. What makes you think a creature like that could become an admin? Geeze...

Can I help make the game?

Only if you're an artist or a musician. We have all kinds of official competitions going on most of the time that require some artistic skills. If you're a musician willing to give music for the game, then that's also accepted. Currently we do not buy art/music from people who come offering it.

Is the maker of this game really a girl?!

Yeah, well duh? It must be some guy inferiority complex to automatically expect that every game in the world was made by a stinky guy. How fucking retarded can you fucken nerds be anyways?! Sorry to let you down honey but this game is indeed made by a girl.

Technical

How fast Internet connection do I need?

Broadband or you'll lag like your granny

Does this game need DirectX

Yes, DirectX 9 or better.

I get an error "Unable to use the chosen resolution & mode."

This error is an indication that there's something wrong with your graphics card/drivers. You could try reinstalling different versions of your graphics card's drivers, and then reinstalling DirectX from Microsoft's site.

If it still won't work then your graphics card is probably too ancient to play the game.

The game keeps crashing a lot

Have you updated to the latest version? If not then you should do so.

The game laggy

It's just you. The lag is probably caused by your distance to the server. Quite often people also think that low fps (frames per second) is the same as lag. Lag only means the slowdown in internet traffic - not the slowdown caused by the players' slow machines.

The client runs very slowly

Some areas in the game have quite low fps (frames per second) because of the high graphical details. One way is to set the game in low graphics mode from the patcher's options.

Playing

How do I level up?

First you need some experience points by killing monsters. Then you have to go and talk with a level trainer guy in some of the towns. The Level Trainers will also tell you how much experience you'll need for the next level.

Can I play a mage or wizard?

Yes. Gekkeiju Online has 5 different character classes even though all players start as warriors. You can change your character class at level trainers by using the reincarnation-feature. The level trainer in the start town offers only warrior-option but the other level trainers offer other classes as well.

What character classes are there?

There's 5 character classes in Gekkeiju Online: Warrior, Commoner, Magic User, Divine Arts and Dark Arts. Each character class comes with many different guilds. So even if one chooses to be a warrior, she can actually become a non fighting animal tamer.

I'm being chased and killed by skeletons?

Leaving the killed monsters unburied may randomly turn them into angry undead. Always bury your kills. Burying also gives you a small amount of experience points. The undead usually disintegrate in around 10 minutes.

These newbie monsters are too hard. What to do?

Most people make bad assumptions on the monsters' strength by their looks. Newbies should stick to Small Würms if other monsters seem too hard. For example the small rats are already much harder than worms. To figure out the monster's strength one could use the Consider-skill

What is reincarnation?

See Reincarnation

How do parties work?

Parties are basically a group of players who have formed a party. Parties only affect the exp gains so items still have to be divided by some manner made up by the party members. The exp gain shares in parties are divided according to players' level in the party. This slightly encourages players to party with others around their level.

To encourage partying, the parties gain experience bonus which increases with every member in the party. So full parties get almost two times more experience points in total. Of course the exp is still divided between the party members.

Can I play the game solo?

While we try to encourage partying, soloing is still possible. However, when soloing one has to play such a character class and build which will work for soloing. For example healers won't make too good choice for soloing since there's nobody else to heal, and they don't really get any attack skills.

What is the instance-system?

Instance-systems are something that can be found in next to every online rpg nowadays. Basically the system will create an instance of an area or a dungeon for a player or a group of people which can then be accessed only by those players and nobody else. For bigger dungeons this allows parties to plan tactics for defeating boss monsters without having to worry about some random n00b popping out of nowhere and ruining their hunt.

Gekkeiju also offers smaller instance-dungeon quests where players can select the hardness of the dungeon themselves. This is a nice training option for some players.

Is there crafting-system?

Gekkeiju Online takes pride in its huge crafting-system. The system is wider and more "realistic" than in most other online rpgs. Instead of having to collect crafting parts as random drops from monsters, the crafters in Gekkeiju Online go mine, collect leathers, pick up plants etc to gain the required materials.

Crafting is based on single-use blueprints or recipes which can be purchased at npc shops or found as rare drops. For example Tailor shops sell Tailor-blueprints and Weapon-shops sell Blacksmith-blueprints. To craft anything, player will first need to be of Commoner-class and have joined some of the crafting guilds such as Blacksmith or Tailor. Then a workbench is required. Player will need to put all the materials mentioned in the blueprint and the actual blueprint into the workbench and then use a crafting skill to craft the wanted item.

Is there PvP?

Gekkeiju Online has a free PvP-system. This means that it's possible to attack players almost at any given time without asking their permission. To prevent abuse, most towns are guarded or non pvp areas. Attacking players at guarded area will make the attacker criminal.

Players won't lose anything other than their carried experience when killed by a player unless they're criminals in which case they'll drop their inventory on ground.

Players under level 20 are considered newbies, and PvP does not work for/against them.

(How) can I get a pet?

In Gekkeiju Online it is possible to get a pet/tamed creature/mount to be used. While any player can use a pet as a mount, only animal tamers are able to command them in combat and train their level.

People blinded by the idea of getting a furry animal to their side are often blinded by the facts that there's plenty of downsides to owning a pet. First of all, to be able to fight when mounted, one will need Mounted Combat-skill which isn't offered by every guild at all. Secondly, pets die very quickly if left near monsters or evil players. And finally, pets need feeding or they'll starve to death.

If, however, one doesn't think these too big problems then the way to get a pet is to either tame it yourself if you're an animal tamer (guild) or buy from other players/npcs. Some npcs sell horses etc for insane prices so better buy from players.

What is a lollern00b?

In short, lollern00bs are people who say lol all the time and think its usage makes them seem somehow smart. In general lollern00bs are also so retarded that it's nearly impossible to have any kinds of sane dialog with them. The reason for lollern00bs' appearance is the fact that people start to use computers before they can actually read/write/understand proper netiquette. Killing of lollern00bs on sight is suggested on behalf of the administration.

I said something stupid. LOL!11 and now I'm getting pkilled!

Too bad for you. Better learn to behave and act nicely towards others before venturing to the world of online games.

My clan member pissed someone off and now I'm getting pkilled too!

Too bad for you. Sometimes pissed people put whole clans on their enemy/kill list. You should try to find some way to cool down the killer. If you're a leader of the clan then you should give more clearer instructions to your members not to piss off those who could cause trouble to the clan when pissed off.

I look like girl even though I chose male!!11

Panic after seeing your real life persona in game too? Quite many nerds have this complex. They look so ugly and retarded in real life so they actually expect to be like some body building macho men in games. Maybe you should consider sex change in real life? Might solve the issue. Now go pester someone who actually cares.
